The UAB Department of Neurology, Headache Program, has received accreditation from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) as a certified Headache Medicine Training Program. Our Headache Program can now train neurologists who wish to receive specialized training in Headache Medicine.
UAB joins the short list of institutions in the US that offer this sub-specialization.
Fellows focus on developing skills in clinical care, including patient evaluation, management, and treatment. There will be opportunities to develop expertise in botulinum toxin use and greater occipital nerve blocks as well as other procedures for the management of chronic daily headaches. There will also be opportunities to develop expertise in clinical research through formal training in research design and methodology as well as participation in ongoing trials.
