The individualized or elective part of the curriculum allows the student personal experience in applying the scientific method in sufficient depth to enhance his or her attitudes of critical inquiry as well as the desire for continued self-education. This portion of the curriculum further permits the student to have experiences that will aid him or her in career selection, providing the opportunity to examine any of a full range of potential careers in a setting that most realistically approximates the conditions of that career. The clinical electives experience may involve specialty services within the hospital and ambulatory clinics, family medicine experiences both inside and outside the university setting, and visiting opportunities both in other universities and in other clinical settings.Online SOM Course CatalogThe SOM Course Catalog is available online.
