The University of Alabama at Birmigham Center for Emerging Infections and Emergency Preparedness (CEIEP) serves to enhance and coordinate research, funding, training and education, and service opportunities in the areas of biodefense, emerging infections, emergency medical care, and public health disaster preparedness in Alabama and across the world.
The Center provides a formal structure to facilitate collaborative efforts between experts from a wide range of disciplines in order to address the issues surrounding disaster preparedness.
The Center's five cores focus on disease agent basic research, disease agent clinical research, medical response issues, pharmaceutical preparedness and public health surveillance.
